Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking Policy 2022

The Modern Slavery Act (MSA) was enacted by the UK Government in 2015 and encompasses all forms of human trafficking and slavery including servitude, forced or compulsory labour, child labour or human trafficking – where a person has been deprived of their human rights.

Earth Capital Limited (ECL), company registration number 06907145, is a private limited company in the UK and is a growth equity investment firm that advises on investments in the area of clean technology focussing specifically on energy, food and water sectors across the UK and Europe. The company is driven by the measuring of the environmental, social and governance (ESG) of their investments using a in-house created tool, the Earth Dividend™. ECL is also a signatory of the Principles for Responsible Investment (PRI).

This policy applies to all persons working for us or on our behalf in any capacity, including employees at all levels, directors, agency workers, seconded workers, volunteers, agents, contractors and suppliers.

Earth Capital Ltd strictly prohibits the use of modern slavery and human trafficking in our investments, operations and supply chain. We commit to ensure that modern slavery is not taking place anywhere within our organisation. We expect that our investments, investors, and key operational relationships will comply with our standards with their own suppliers and production.

We have a strict due diligence process both on our investors and investments.

For our investors, we have a comprehensive Know Your Customer process which includes confirmation of their commitment to the MSA or similar.

As part of the due diligence for our investments, we use our Earth Dividend™ tool to measure the company’s ESG and compliance with the UN Global Compact Principles ( is part of this process. If a company does not meet our standards regarding modern slavery or agree to comply with them at this time then no investment would take place. Once an investment takes place, the Earth Dividend™ is carried out on an annual basis to ensure continued compliance.

ECL believe our key operational relationships to be at low risk. Our suppliers are mostly professional service providers. We endeavour to use only reputable companies where their commitment to the MSA or similar can be demonstrated.

Our staff are provided with a supportive environment where training and guidance are provided to help them to grow professionally. As part of the recruitment process, each employee has a background check to ensure that they meet our standards. Some employees have professional qualifications and so are subject to their association’s regulations.
