Jim Totty gave a keynote address at the Clean Energy Europe conference on the 5^th September 2018. In his talk ‘Mobilising Investment in Low Carbon Technologies’ he discussed the key megatrends of the Sustainable Revolution over the next 20 years and the long term drivers of investment returns. He highlighted how levels of UK sustainable private equity deal flow have increased further in 2018 despite Brexit uncertainty, and where the sector ‘heat map’ is currently hottest. In the core of his presentation he walked along the capital markets investment ‘food chain’ to stress that all parts of the investment ‘ecosystem’ must work well. He summarised how to mobilise investment and the ingredients for success. Finally he set out the recent evidence of outperformance of ESG themed investments.
