Avent Bezuidenhoudt

Avent is Chief Executive Officer at Earth Capital Ltd, as well as a Board Director and member of the Investment Committee.

Avent is one of the leading water tech investors in the UK and has been recognised by Business Insider and Tribe Capital as one of the top 10 female early stage investors in Europe. She has over 25 years’ experience in venture capital and private equity investing, portfolio management and corporate finance advisory, with a particular focus on high-growth technology businesses.

Prior to joining ECL, Avent was a Senior Fund Manager at The FSE Group, an Assistant Director in the London Corporate Finance team at BDO UK and did advisory work with VCT funds and UHNWI's.

Avent leads the investment team and her responsibilities include making new investments with a particular focus on new technologies in the sustainability sector, as well as working with the management teams of our portfolio companies to develop and deliver on their strategic plans.

Richard Burrett

Chief Sustainability Officer

Richard is Chief Sustainability Officer at Earth Capital Ltd, as well as a Board Director and member of the Investment Committee.

Richard has spent over 35 years in international banking. In his 20 years with ABN AMRO he was Head of UK Structured Finance and Corporate Banking and sat on the UK Executive and Credit Committees. As Global Head of Project Finance, he was responsible for ABN AMRO’s award-winning business franchises in Europe, Asia, Australia, North America and Brazil. In this role he was also instrumental in the creation of the Equator Principles, a market recognised standard for managing environmental and social risk issues in project financing.

Latterly, as Global Head of Sustainability, he chaired the group’s Sustainability Council and developed the bank’s strategy on climate change and the carbon markets. He is a former Chair of the UNEP Finance Initiative, a former Steering Committee member of Renewable Energy Networks for the 21st Century and external board member of Forest Renewables (part of the Forestry Commission in Scotland).

Richard is currently a Fellow of the University of Cambridge Institute for Sustainability Leadership and holds a BA and MBA from Durham University. He is an Independent Non-Exec Director of Triodos Bank UK and a Senior Adviser to the Earth Security Group.

Elise Hockley

Chief Operating Officer and Head of Investor Relations

Elise is Chief Operating Officer and Head of Investor Relations at Earth Capital Ltd, as well as a Board Director.

Elise's responsibilities include leading on brand and communication across marketing and investor relations, overseeing the day-to-day function of the operational team and working closely with the sustainability team on the Earth Dividend. Under Elise's leadership, the company has developed significant recognition across private wealth and sustainable finance.

With over a decade of experience in the finance sector, she has also worked at KKR and Edge VC in Operational and Investor Relations roles.

In 2016, Elise relocated to India, working with NGOs focused on water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) where amongst other duties she handled relations between the various projects and their donors.

Elise has received a BA from Middlesex University, a Certificate in Environmental Management from the Institute of Environmental Management & Assessment and attended The Chartered Institute of Marketing. She is also in the Advisory Group for Pensions for Purpose and is a Member of the Institute of Directors.

Bradley Jones

Bradley joined the Investment Team at Earth Capital Ltd in September 2022 and leads on deal origination and value creation.

Prior to joining ECL, he was Equity Portfolio Manager at The FSE Group, Corporate Finance Manager at Grant Thornton and is an experienced investor.

Bradley has received a Business Management degree from the University of the West of England and a Certificate in Investment Management from the Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment (CISI).

Stephen was co-founder of the private client business Hargreaves Lansdown (HL), the UK’s largest independent private client brokerage, and a FTSE100 constituent. He co-founded Earth Capital Holdings with Gordon Power in 2008 to focus on sustainable technology investments and stepped down as executive director of HL in 2010.

Gordon has over 35 years’ of venture capital and private equity experience. He founded the private equity business ProVen Private Equity (now re-named Beringea) and led its buy-out from Guinness Mahon acting as CEO and CIO until the firm’s sale. In 2003 ProVen had funds under management of $340m. In addition to being a private investor in his own right, Gordon’s growth capital investment track record extends to over 256 investments. During this time he has made 33 investments in sustainable technology within areas such as forestry, plastic recycling and eco-friendly building materials and brand packaging.

He is also a co-founder of Earth Capital Holdings with Stephen Lansdown, Earth Capital Limited's holding company. In addition, Gordon is also Director & Investment Committee member at Berkeley Energy Ltd (BEL) and Director of Sustainable Development Capital Ltd (SDCL).
