As the world reaches a quarter of the way into the 21st century and halfway to the 2050 net-zero target, Earth Capital, in collaboration with Edison, has released its Mid-Term Insight — the 2025 Climate Review: How Much Progress Have We Made?
The report takes a clear, data-led look at the state of global climate investment and policy, offering an honest assessment of progress so far and the challenges still ahead. According to the analysis, global clean energy investment reached a record 2.1 trillion US dollars in 2024, yet more than 5 trillion per year will be needed through to 2030 to meet the international climate goals.
It highlights a widening gap between mature renewable infrastructure — now attracting consistent institutional funding and early-stage climate technologies, which remain under-supported despite their vital role in achieving deep decarbonisation. The publication also explores how capital markets are adapting, with sustainable debt issuance exceeding 1.5 trillion dollars in 2024 and new models of blended finance, tax-credit transfers and public-private partnerships gaining traction.
The 2025 Climate Review underscores both the urgency and the opportunity that define this decade. It calls for greater policy stability, financial innovation and cross-sector collaboration to unlock the capital needed for the transition.
This insight reflects Earth Capital’s continued commitment to combining rigorous research with practical investment strategy – helping investors identify scalable, sustainable solutions that deliver measurable impact.
