Press releases

Earth Capital join over 75 businesses urging the UK Prime Minister to set ambitious climate target for 2030

Date published: Tuesday, 1 December 2020

Earth Capital alongside other UK business groups have called on the Government to set out an ambitious Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC) by the end of the year that is at least in line with the Paris Agreement, the UK’s net-zero emissions by 2050 target, and advice from the Climate Change Committee on the UK’s 2030 target.

We actively support an NDC that is:

- Aligned with business targets

- Setting out clear ambitions for resilience

- Embedded in UK policy

- Supportive of the UK building back better

Gordon Power, Chief Investment Officer, Earth Capital, said: “It is critical for the UK to show climate leadership in the run-up to COP26 in Glasgow. A strong 2030 NDC submission will send out a clear signal of the direction of travel and if combined with sector-based targets can spur innovation and green growth.”
